Poles ranging from 10' 75# through 15' 180. We generally prefer Spirit poles and equipment. While pole brands have some range of properties, it is far more important to have a consistent series of poles that are in good condition and appropriate for athletes' height, weight, speed, strength, and technique requirements. |

October 1 (or so) through the last week in January (or so). Technique, conditioning and meet preparation. We have vault practices on Mondays and Thursdays, generally with start times of 3:30 OR 5:30 for 2 hour sessions. We have sprint practices at nearby Jefferson Park Elementary School on Tuesdays and Fridays, at 3:30 or 4:30 start times, for one-hour sessions. We distribute more detailed training schedules at the start of the season which account for holidays. There is some time for private lessons, by appointment. On the Friday after Thanksgiving we have a 'Turkey-Vault' mini-meet (3:30pm). |
Beginning in January, we look for regional meets, ranging from USATF association events to the Pole Vault Summit in Reno, NV. Starting in February, since we support local high schools as assistant coaches, our training schedule shifts to Mondays and Thursdays with a 6pm start time. |
During the weekend Rodeo Week (second or third week in February - a regional holiday) we have a one-day clinic. |
Starting in mid-May, we move to our summer schedule, with M/Th vault practices at 5:30pm, and sprint practices at 7:30 am or 5:30 pm on Tuesdays (Friday mornings only). We compete in regional meets, as well as support athletes traveling to national-level meets such as the Golden West, or USATF Jr. or Senior Nationals. We attend the camp at Sky Athletics in Flagstaff, held annually at the end of June. |
